This isn't really a dog podcast.

Dogs make behavior visible.

They respond to environments, expectations, reinforcement, trust, inconsistency, fear, safety, communication, and the systems humans create around them.

People do too.

Sit. Stay. Hire. uses that lens to explore some of the biggest questions facing Talent Acquisition and workplace leaders:

  • Why do hiring systems keep producing outcomes nobody says they want?
  • What happens when incentives reward the wrong behavior?
  • How much of "culture fit" is really pattern matching?
  • What creates trust?
  • Why does feedback fail?
  • What happens when onboarding teaches something different from what the company promises?
  • What does psychological safety actually look like in behavior?
  • When should leaders stop trying to fix the person and start examining the environment?

What if the behavior we keep trying to fix is actually a response to the environment we created?

The conversations go somewhere.

Guests may come from very different worlds, but the conversations connect around human behavior and the systems surrounding it.

Hiring systems, recruiters, candidate experience, interviewing, sourcing, selection, onboarding, ghost jobs, and hiring manager behavior.

Who belongs at the table?

Not just people with “podcast guest” in their bio.

I want people who have seen something, built something, learned something the hard way, studied something deeply, or have a story that changes how we think about behavior.

Potential guests include recruiters and Talent Acquisition leaders, CHROs and People leaders, HR-tech founders and operators, hiring managers, organizational psychologists, researchers, DEIB practitioners, employment experts, executives, dog trainers, behaviorists, rescuers, handlers, shelter professionals, veterinarians, and people with a dog story that turns out to be a people story.

Your host

Hosted by Jackye Clayton

I help companies hire, and I train dogs. Turns out it's the same job.

Jackye Clayton has spent more than 15 years inside talent acquisition and HR technology as a recruiter, executive, advisor and speaker, including as VP of Talent Acquisition and DEIB at Textio. Today she helps TA teams fix the systems, decisions and technology that make hiring harder than it needs to be. She's also a LinkedIn Learning instructor.

She's a GoodPup Certified Trainer. She and her husband Todd board and train dogs in Waco, Texas.

Then came surgery, months of rest, and a stray in a purple and pink cast named Shiloh. Sit. Stay. Hire. is where her two jobs meet.

The show is only the beginning.

Sit. Stay. Hire. is becoming a larger body of work about behavior, systems, trust, hiring, and leadership.

The underlying premise is simple:

Before we label behavior, we should ask what the environment is teaching.

These conversations will inform future writing, research, speaking, workshops, and a planned book exploring what the way we understand dogs can teach us about the way we hire, manage, motivate, and lead people.
