Fix My Search
Fix My Search
Paste a Boolean search, say what is wrong, and get a corrected search you can copy.
Need a search built from scratch? Try the candidate pool tool. Want the operator rules and platform quirks behind these fixes? The Boolean search cheat sheet for recruiters covers them.
How to fix a Boolean search that returns the wrong people
A Boolean string can run clean and still bring back the wrong people. No error message. Just 400 project managers when you wanted product managers. Use this tool when your results are too big, too small or full of people you would never call.
Check the logic before the syntax
Put titles and skills in the same OR group and you quietly widen the search. Use AND where you meant OR and you cut it in half. Tell the tool what is wrong with the results so it fixes the problem you actually have.
Keep the decisions you already made
Your NOT clauses and must-have groups came out of conversations with the hiring manager. The tool keeps them unless you ask it to change them.
Pick the platform first
LinkedIn Recruiter, regular LinkedIn, Google X-ray and your ATS do not read quotes, parentheses and operators the same way. Choose where you are searching so the string works there.
Run it and look
The new string is a starting point. Run it, read the first 20 profiles and adjust. The tool cannot see how many results you get. You can.
Free, no email required. Check every suggestion before you use it.
